About
Platform-L Contemporary Art Center is a standalone art building in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, rising from three basement levels to four storeys above ground and finished with a roof terrace that looks out over the city. Designed by JOHO Architecture and opened in 2016, it has two galleries, a lecture room, a central open courtyard and an underground Live Hall. The Live Hall is the main event space: a multipurpose room with ceilings of about eight metres, variable height for large installations, and full audiovisual capability. The courtyard is set up for performance and installation work and can act as a reception or arrival space, while the roof terrace suits smaller drinks receptions. Because galleries, hall and outdoor areas sit in one building, planners can run a presentation, an exhibition walk-through and a reception without moving guests. It suits fashion, beauty and design brand launches, showcases, conferences and VIP receptions.
