Korea's 2027 public holidays with every substitute day, the four blocks to plan around, peak and quiet seasons, and how far ahead to book a Seoul venue.
Planning a 2027 Event in Korea: Public Holidays, Peak Seasons and Dates to Avoid
If you're planning a corporate event in Korea for 2027, lock your date around four fixed blocks first: Seollal (6–9 February), the 1–5 May cluster, Chuseok (14–16 September) and the October long weekends. Around these, vendors close, flights fill and hotel rates rise. Everything else — venue, budget, programme — is easier to plan once the date avoids them.
The dates below follow the 2027 calendar guidelines issued by the Korea AeroSpace Administration (June 2026). Confirm against the final government notice before contracting.

| Mon 1 Mar | Independence Movement Day | |
| Sat 1 May | Labor Day | Mon 3 May substitute |
| Wed 5 May | Children's Day | |
| Thu 13 May | Buddha's Birthday | |
| Sun 6 Jun | Memorial Day | No substitute |
| Sat 17 Jul | Constitution Day | Mon 19 Jul substitute |
| Sun 15 Aug | Liberation Day | Mon 16 Aug substitute |
| Tue 14 – Thu 16 Sep | Chuseok | Chuseok is Wed 15 Sep; no substitute |
| Sun 3 Oct | National Foundation Day | Mon 4 Oct substitute |
| Sat 9 Oct | Hangul Day | Mon 11 Oct substitute |
| Sat 25 Dec | Christmas | Mon 27 Dec substitute |
Korea moves a holiday that falls on a weekend to the next working day, which is why 2027 has so many Monday substitutes — and so many long weekends.
The four blocks that matter most
Seollal, 6–9 February. The year's biggest family holiday. Most vendors, production houses and many venue sales teams stop for the full block, and the days either side are lost to travel. Don't plan an event in the week of Seollal, and don't expect contracts or approvals that week either.
The May cluster, 1–5 May (plus 13 May). Labor Day, its substitute on Monday 3 May, and Children's Day on Wednesday 5 May make early May patchy for staffing and attendance. Mid-to-late May is an excellent window once you're past Buddha's Birthday on 13 May.
Chuseok, 14–16 September. The second great family holiday. As with Seollal, treat the whole week as unavailable for events and slow for vendor work. September before Chuseok and the weeks after it are prime event season.
October long weekends, 2–4 and 9–11 October. Two back-to-back Monday substitutes create two long weekends. They're good for leisure travel and bad for business attendance — avoid Mondays and Fridays around them.
Peak seasons: when Seoul is busiest
- Spring (April to June) and autumn (September to November) are Korea's peak event seasons — the best weather and the most competition for venues.
- Late June to July brings the monsoon (jangma). Indoor events are unaffected; outdoor receptions need a wet-weather plan.
- December is year-end banquet season for Korean companies. Large hotel ballrooms on December Friday evenings are typically booked by September or October.
- January and early February, outside Seollal, and mid-August are quieter — easier availability, sometimes better rates.
What this means for your planning timeline
For a mid-size corporate event in peak season, contract the venue at least three months out — earlier for December or for a specific landmark venue. Work backward from your date, and check that no milestone (deposit payment, print sign-off, shipping) lands in a holiday block when Korean vendors are closed. Our venue booking guide covers what a confirmed booking requires.
Frequently asked questions
When is Seollal in 2027? Seollal (Lunar New Year) is Sunday 7 February 2027, with the holiday running Saturday 6 to Tuesday 9 February — Tuesday 9 February is a substitute holiday because Seollal falls on a Sunday.
When is Chuseok in 2027? Chuseok is Wednesday 15 September 2027, with the holiday running Tuesday 14 to Thursday 16 September. There's no substitute holiday because the block doesn't overlap a weekend.
What's the best time of year for a corporate event in Seoul? Mid-May to June and late September to November offer the best weather and full business attendance. They're also the most competitive months for venues, so book early.
How far ahead should we book a Seoul venue for 2027? Three months is the minimum for a mid-size event in peak season. For December events, or for landmark venues such as DDP or Some Sevit, start six months out.
